For 88 years, the Black Forest family-owned and operated company has produced insulating board from wood at its plant in Waldshut-Tiengen, Germany.
GUTEX is a leader in innovative environment-friendly manufacturing technologies. As early as 1932, GUTEX was the first in Europe to manufacture insulation boards from ecological wood fibre. In still another milestone, GUTEX became the first manufacturer in the world to produce single-ply homogeneous wood fibreboard insulation using a dry process. The technique is exceptionally innovative and allows GUTEX to manufacture single-ply boards in up to 240-mm thickness with significant quality advantages. In addition, there have been many inventions over the years – some large and others small – all steps toward establishing wood fibre as the ecological alternative to conventional insulation materials.
Now in its fourth generation, the family-run company, headquartered in Waldshut-Tiengen Germany, employs 200 people and manufactures 700.000 cubic meters of wood fibre insulation annually.

In February 2014, GUTEX’s blow-in insulation, Thermofibre, received natureplus© certification, making the range of biologically safe GUTEX insulation products complete. Natureplus© is an international quality seal for sustainable construction and building finishing materials. It offers consumers, architects, and tradespeople a clear decision-making basis. To receive the seal, building products must satisfy standards for healthiness, environment-friendly manufacturing, finite resource preservation, and they must prove their suitability for the intended purpose.
